At what age should I be concerned about my child's speech or language development?

If your child is not reaching speech and language milestones for their age, such as first words by 12 months or two-word phrases by 24 months, discuss your concerns with your pediatrician. Early intervention can make a critical difference.

What are the signs my child may need speech or language therapy?

Signs include not reaching expected milestones, difficulty communicating needs, limited vocabulary, trouble pronouncing words, or preferring gestures over speaking. Regressive loss of speech abilities is also a red flag.

How can speech therapy help my child?

Speech therapists assess your child's abilities, identify problem areas, and provide exercises and strategies to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, vocabulary, sentence structure, articulation, and more.

What happens during a typical speech therapy session?

Where are the therapy sessions provided?

The sessions are usually provided at your home. If an alternate location is preferred there is no additional cost up to a 20 mile radius from Smithtown.

Do I need a referral from my pediatrician?

Referrals are not required for private pay services. If you wish to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for out of network coverage, documentation may be required.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We are a private pay therapy service and will accept cash, checks or credit card (subject to processing fee) as forms of payment. We do not accept insurance but will assist you to submit to your insurance company for out of network reimbursement. We do not participate with Early Intervention or Preschool Related Services, but can provide you with information to utilize those services for therapy.
